Ava pattern now on Etsy

Hello,

Ava doll has now been tested and her pattern is now on my Etsy store.  She is a slightly smaller doll around 16 cms tall and is worked in cotton.

Pop along to my Etsy store for more patterns...Ali Crafts Designs

I always have a number of projects on the go at the same time.  I have just started a new blanket in these colours....This one is for spring. I love choosing different colour combinations, these are Spring green, wisteria, sherbet and parchment.  I am going to do the blanket design in 4 different colour ways for each season.

For Autumn I uploaded a photo and selected colours based on the photo, it was taken at Falling Foss near Whitby.

These are the colours similar to the photo. My blanket only needs 4 different colours so I have chosen, Parchment, Meadow, Spice and Mocha.

George Doll pattern now on Etsy

Meet George, named after my 7 year old Grandson...

I designed George to go with Princess Blueberry.  He is approx. 12.5 inch (31cms). This version in blue was my first prototype but I have slightly changed the edging on the hat since but you can see he works well in different colours.

He is worked in Stylecraft special double knitting yarn. The pattern is now available in my Etsy store.

Hope you enjoy this pattern. You have plenty of time to make him for Christmas presents,

My Crochet Library Collection

Hello,

I have been crocheting for over 40 years over this time I have collected hundred of patterns and books mainly on crocheting but also other crafts such as knitting and much more.

This is one of my book shelves at the moment...

A close up of a few books in my collection.

I thought I would review a crochet book from time to time on my blog.

This week, I am reviewing 'The Crochet Stitch Bible" by Betty Barnden which I have had since 2004. This book is still available on Amazon for around £10.  The book is divided up into stitch types such as textured, mesh and trims.  Each stitch has a photo plus a word description and a graph which is good because you can easily see how the stitch should be worked. The book is colourful and has very clear pictures which helps you learn new stitches.

I like this book because the stitches are in English terminology but if you can read the charts you can use this book if you are more familiar with US terminology.

The only thing I don't like about this book is it is spiral bound which could wear out with a lot of use over time.

A new doll - Ava

My daughter suggested I design a slightly smaller doll to add to my collect of doll patterns.

This is going to be Ava, she is worked in 10 crochet cotton and I really pleased with how she has turned out.  She is about 7 inches (18cms) tall.  Great for using up oddments of cotton and not too time consuming.

Pattern coming soon....

Update - Ava pattern is now available to buy on Etsy
